Ubisoft Hack: Rainbow Six Siege: All Servers Taken Down
2026
In a span of a week (updated 6 Jan. 26), another hack has been reported via the Escapist:
“Rainbow Six Siege recently experienced a cyberattack causing limited disruptions, including fake ban notifications and unauthorized credit grants. Following that incident, some players have received new false ban notifications on January 4 ; these were not official and did not result in an actual ban. Additionally, the esports blue banner has been temporarily disabled following reports of unofficial messaging. While we are continuing our investigation, as of this time, there is no indication that any personal data nor source code was compromised as a result of this incident. We are actively working to resolve these issues, including synchronization errors and server disconnects, and are taking all necessary actions to protect the game and the Siege community.”

Verbatim from Tom's Hardware "Rainbow Six Siege is under siege by hackers, Ubisoft forced to take all servers offline — players randomly received billions of credits, ultra-exclusive skins, and bans or unbans":
Because of the ongoing chaos, players have been advised to stay offline, especially as it seems that this is more than just a simple hack. Instead, it looks like it’s a massive breach with Ubisoft losing total control of the game’s backend. The company has yet to explain what is happening, especially as it’s likely still trying to figure out what’s going on and how it can regain control of the game, but this silence has led to frustration among players. Still, it’s likely fighting one fire after another, so we don’t expect it to make any announcements anytime soon.
