Microsoft gives encryption keys to FBI

Microsoft gave BitLocker-encrypted keys stored on their servers during an FBI probe granting access to data on three laptops in 2025¹. Keys are stored on a usb drive or directly to Microsoft's servers, where they are automatically stored². BitLocker is used to encrypt data on a devices and comes preinstalled on most Windows devices.
